When to bring me in

When is fractional or interim CIO leadership the right fit?

Fractional CIO leadership fits when an organization needs recurring senior accountability but not a full-time executive. An interim CIO or interim IT Director fits when a vacancy, transformation, integration, recovery, or operating-model reset needs more intensive leadership for a defined period.

Choose the right intensity

Fractional CIO vs Interim CIO

Both are principal-led mandates carried personally by Sven; the difference is intensity and duration.

Fractional CIO

A fractional or part-time CIO works a recurring number of days each month.

Interim CIO

An interim CIO or interim IT Director steps in more intensively for a defined transition, transformation, or recovery period.

What the mandate can cover

This is not an advisory title without authority. Depending on scope, Sven can take accountability for the IT team and operating model, governance and decision cadence, transformation delivery, budget and priorities, vendors and contracts, risk escalation, executive communication, capability building, and preparation for a permanent successor.

The first 90 days

A controlled 30, 60, and 90-day mandate

30
days

The first 30 days establish evidence, priorities, decision rights, and immediate risks.

60
days

By 60 days, governance, delivery cadence, vendor control, and the agreed interventions should be operating.

90
days

By 90 days, leadership should have visible progress, a defensible roadmap, and a clear view of the longer-term operating model or handover.

Exact milestones remain specific to the mandate.

How the mandate is set up

Timing

Defined leadership mandate; timing agreed after scope and availability are confirmed

Delivery owner

Every mandate is led directly by Sven Van Roosenbroek. Specialist involvement, when needed, is made explicit in scope.

Commercial model

Day-rate or monthly structure for a defined leadership mandate.

What you receive

  • Clear leadership accountability for the defined mandate
  • Executive and board communication in business language
  • A stronger operating rhythm across priorities, risks, and delivery
  • Transformation and transition programs led from inside the organization
  • Vendor and contract management handled at senior level
  • A documented handover that leaves capability behind

Use this when

  • A CIO or IT Director vacancy that cannot remain unmanaged
  • A growing organization that needs fractional CIO accountability before a full-time role is justified
  • A transformation, integration, separation, or operating-model reset that needs senior ownership
  • A board or executive team that needs direct control over IT priorities, vendors, risk, and delivery
