About the mandate
You take on a coordinating and technical lead role within an XR team. You are responsible for the quality of the 3D models, guide a junior colleague and interns, and safeguard consistency across different XR projects. Together with safety and operational partners, you work on advanced simulations for education, safety and operational training. You design and optimise complex 3D environments, carry out 3D scans, and develop documentation and pipelines for the team. You gather technical needs and translate them into XR solutions, in consultation with project management and other XR teams. You work from Brussels, with a hybrid working option.
Responsibilities
- Designing, modelling and optimising complex 3D environments, vehicles, props and characters for XR training simulations
- Coordinating the 3D production line within the team
- Managing and coaching a 3D Artist and interns
- Safeguarding the technical and artistic quality of all 3D assets
- Monitoring planning, workload and priorities in consultation with project management
- Carrying out and processing 3D scans using high-tech equipment
- Preparing, exporting and integrating assets in Unity or Unreal, with correct scale, pivots, materials and naming
- Developing and maintaining documentation, pipelines and standard procedures for 3D development
Must-haves
- Advanced in Blender, Maya, Character Creator, Substance Painter or similar 3D software
- Strong skills in 3D modelling and real-time asset development
- Good knowledge of real-time game engines such as Unity and Unreal
- Experience with PBR workflows, optimisation (topology, UV layouts, texture sizes) and LOD systems
- Experience with technical documentation and version control, such as Git and Perforce
- You can coach and guide a team member
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Dutch or French, and good knowledge of English
